How Women Can Support Other Women

How Women Can Support Other Women and Grow Together

Small acts of encouragement, connection, and generosity can create meaningful change.

Women are often encouraged to become stronger, more confident, and more successful. But empowerment is not only an individual journey. It also grows through the relationships we build, the opportunities we share, and the way we choose to treat one another.

Learning how women can support other women does not require a large platform or a public campaign. It can begin with one sincere conversation, one introduction, one recommendation, or one moment of encouragement offered at the right time.

In her article, “Serving Humanity: Why the World Needs Healthy, Empowered Women,” published in Issue 1 of Empowering Humanity Magazine™, alignment coach Petia Kolibova reflects on moving beyond comparison and allowing supportive women into her life.

Empowerment Grows Through Connection

Comparison can make women feel as though another person’s success reduces their own possibilities. Genuine support changes that thinking. It reminds us that another woman’s progress can become encouragement, wisdom, and evidence of what is possible.

A supportive relationship does not require two people to have the same story, beliefs, or goals. Understanding how women can support other women simply requires respect, honesty, and the willingness to recognize value in one another.

In Petia Kolibova’s Own Words

The following excerpt is presented exactly as it appeared in Petia’s original magazine article. Her words have not been edited.

“In a world of comparison, I know my journey has been a long one to not feel like I was in competition with the women around me. It was very difficult (and is something I still work on) to have faith that there are good people in the world who sincerely want the best for the people around them and random strangers they meet on the street.”

“Since I’m committed to being that person, I know there are others who are committed to that kind of life, as well. When I decided to surround myself with like-minded women who lift me up, who share their wisdom and remind me about the gifts I have and how special I am…”

“BAM! My whole world changed and I started to allow so much support and receiving into my world.”

End of excerpt.

What Supporting Other Women Can Look Like

Support is often practical and quiet. It becomes meaningful through actions that strengthen trust and open possibilities.

1. Acknowledge Her Work

A sincere compliment can carry greater weight when it is specific. Instead of saying only, “You are doing a wonderful job,” explain what you noticed and why it mattered. Recognition helps people feel seen and encourages them to continue using their gifts.

2. Share an Opportunity

If a position, speaking opportunity, collaboration, or introduction is appropriate for someone you know, consider opening that door. Sharing an opportunity does not take anything away from us. It can help the right person bring her abilities into a room where they are needed.

3. Recommend Her When She Is Not in the Room

One of the strongest forms of support is speaking positively and truthfully about another woman’s work when she is not present. A thoughtful recommendation can create trust before an introduction is ever made.

4. Listen Without Turning the Conversation into Comparison

Sometimes support means allowing another person to speak without immediately comparing her experience to our own. Listening with care does not require us to solve every problem. It communicates that her thoughts and experiences deserve space.

5. Allow Yourself to Receive Support

Women who give generously may find it difficult to receive. Accepting help is not a weakness. It allows relationships to become mutual and gives someone else the opportunity to contribute.

Support Does Not Mean Agreeing with Everything

Part of how women can support other women well is honesty paired with appropriate boundaries. Supporting another woman does not mean approving every decision or remaining in a relationship that is harmful. Encouragement is strongest when it is grounded in respect and truth.

We can celebrate another person’s gifts while maintaining our own values. We can offer kindness without losing discernment. We can wish someone well even when our journeys move in different directions.

One Meaningful Action This Week

Choose one woman whose work, character, or perseverance you appreciate. Send her a thoughtful message, recommend her to someone who may benefit from her abilities, or simply tell her what you value about the way she shows up.

Small actions may not appear dramatic, but they build stronger relationships and healthier communities. When women help one another rise with integrity, success becomes something that can be shared rather than guarded.
